On November 11, COP29 convened in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, bringing together leaders from governments, businesses, and civil society to advance global efforts in combating the climate crisis. The conference prioritizes addressing the needs of developing countries, with a particular focus on climate finance and the establishment of new funding targets. Integrating gender perspectives into climate mitigation, adaptation, and loss and damage measures is recognized as crucial for fostering sustainable strategies and promoting broader sustainable development. This article, authored by Daria Gerasimenko, Assistant Researcher at IIGF, CUFE, examines the intersection of gender and climate, focusing on the synergy between gender finance and climate finance. It highlights how fostering gender-responsive policies and tools can enhance climate finance efforts and contribute meaningfully to achieving the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
