The ESG team of the International Institute of Green Finance, Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), was established in August 2018. The team is committed to advancing the implementation of research findings, using ESG and carbon peak & carbon neutrality as key drivers, and dedicating itself to standardized research on ESG and sustainable development systems.

Currently, the ESG team actively serves central and local government departments as well as financial regulatory agencies. A number of standards, policy research outputs, recommendations, and internal reference reports have been adopted. The team also serves various financial institutions, collaborating on green finance, ESG product development, environmental stress testing, and related work. At the same time, the team has engaged in extensive international cooperation with organizations such as UNDP, UNEP, UNPRI, the World Bank, ADB, EIB, GIZ, Oxford University, Stanford University, the Energy Foundation, the Bloomberg Family Foundation, the Paulson Institute, WWF, NRDC, CPI, CBI, and others. Team Honors:

  • In 2020, the “Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Green Investment Guide Service Tool” submitted by the International Institute of Green Finance, CUFE, received the “2020 Global Green Finance Innovation Award” from the International Finance Forum (IFF). It was the only Chinese award recipient in the ESG category that year.
  • The team has established a long‑term strategic cooperation with Deutsche Börse Group, collaborating on the development of ESG indices for China, ESG databases and research reports, training, and other joint projects.
  • In 2021, at the Shenzhen Green Finance Regulation Achievement Presentation Conference, two projects led by the ESG team — Implementation Rules for Environmental Information Disclosure by Financial Institutions in Shenzhen and the Shenzhen Green Finance Association’s Guide to Environmental Stress Testing and Scenario Analysis — together with five other projects in which the team participated, received the “Outstanding Contribution Award” from the Shenzhen Green Finance Association.
