More than 50 participants from various industries and organizations attended the event.

Green finance has great potential in supporting environment-friendly industries and addressing climate change, and the information about the status of green finance in different countries and regions serves as an important indicator of that potential. These two Blue Books aim to provide key information on the development and best practice of green finance at the global and Chinese provincial levels.

“The two Blue Books are based on the IIGF’s database for providing knowledge on the current situation and market practices of green finance development in China and around the world. The publishing helps extend the field of green finance research and bridge the gaps between local and international research on the development of green finance.”———— Professor Shi Jianping, Chairman of the International Institute of Green Finance

“The Blue Books explore many profound issues in green finance, which could borrow from global experience and provide Chinese wisdom. They also provide important decision-making references to understand the process of local green finance development in China and give a basis for planning a blueprint for green finance.” ———— Mr. Limin Wang, President of Social Science Academic Press

Qian Mao, Director of International Cooperation at the IIGF, and Ren Yujie, Director of the Green Finance Research Centre introduced the results and contents of two Blue Books. In the next expert discussion session, hosted by Professor Yao Wang, experts gave their suggestions on Blue Book and shared valuable insights on green finance.

“The finding of these books should contribute to further development of green finance and we should find ways to implement these achievements in the real world, especially in foreign investment and business practice.”

“The original concept of green finance centered on reducing pollution and protecting natural resources, while transition finance has been recognized internationally as a supplement to green finance, and then zero-carbon finance. In the stage of zero-carbon finance, China and other countries are at the same starting point. China should consider how to lead, including in index development, disclosure standards, and monetary and fiscal policy support, all of which can be supported by very innovative solutions.”

In the end, Professor Yao Wang, Director-General of IIGF summarized the experts’ opinions on the Blue Book and pointed their focus on practical application and forward-thinking. The IIGF is going to continue work in these fields and play an active role in promoting green finance research through cooperation with stakeholders.
