María del Pilar Garrido Gonzalo, the Director for Development Co-operation at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), along with her colleagues, visited the International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF) on July 12. During the visit, they engaged in a productive discussion. Professor Wang Yao, the Director General of IIGF, also participated in the conversation, where they exchanged insights on their respective research areas, current important topics, and explored possibilities for future collaboration.
María del Pilar Garrido Gonzalo presented the OECD’s initiatives on sustainable finance, which encompass various research and practical efforts in fields such as climate adaptation finance, the integration and expansion of green finance, biodiversity finance, blue finance, gender finance, and addressing environmental risks in developing nations. She expressed her anticipation for a substantial collaboration with the IIGF in the coming times.
Professor Wang Yao warmly welcomed María del Pilar Garrido Gonzalo and her delegation, expressing her enthusiasm for their visit. Mao Qian, the Director of the International Cooperation Department of IIGF, provided an overview of IIGF’s development history and research areas. She also introduced the latest research findings in gender finance, biodiversity finance, and blue finance. The discussion revolved around various topics, including blended finance, green trade finance, and the carbon market. Professor Wang Yao emphasized IIGF’s willingness to leverage its extensive academic expertise, collaborate with the OECD, and foster research synergy through knowledge exchange, joint research projects, and capacity building. The goal is to contribute China’s knowledge and expertise to the advancement of international green finance.
The discussion involved the participation of Rolf Schwarz, a Senior Advisor from the OECD Development Cooperation Directorate, Tamas Hajba, a Senior Advisor specializing in China, Ni Mengwei, a Policy Researcher, as well as Zhao Xin and Daria Gerasimenko from IIGF.
