Sibos is an annual conference organized by SWIFT that brings together influential leaders from financial institutions, market infrastructures, multinational corporations, and technology partners to do business and shape the future of the financial industry. This year, the meetings are organized under the theme: Progressive finance for a changing world” with over 250 speakers from the industry. 

Professor Wang Yao, Director General of International Institute of Green Finance, CUFE was invited to join the panel on October 12th 2022: “Harnessing big data towards ESG compliance”. Panel participants discussed several industry initiatives to identify, measure, and manage these risks to help key market participants like banks, investors, regulators, and rating agencies establish the underlying risk characteristics of ESG-compliant financing and associated banking services, and enable their differentiation. 

Prof. Wang shared her opinions about the two challenges of ESG investment in China and other emerging markets. Also, she further discussed ongoing progress domestically and predicted that in China, the ESG will be gradually mainstreamed in the investment process. Prof. Wang also outlined IIGF work in the ESG database and bridging international investors with sustainable investing in China by providing ESG data of Chinese companies to the Deutsche Borse platform.
